Upcoming Events
June
Monday, June 9th - DONUTS WITH GROWN-UPS (8-9am)
Invite that special grown-up in your life (mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, aunt, uncle, neighbor, or friend) to join you for a special breakfast honoring their wonderful presence in our lives. Donuts, fruit, coffee, tea, and juice will be served in the APR from 8-9. Attendance is free, but pre-registration is required.
Thursday, June 12th - 5th GRADE PROMOTION
Celebrate our amazing 5th graders as they get ready to enter the next phase in their lives: middle school! A special committee (comprised of non-5th grade families) is needed to make this event memorable for our rising middle schoolers. At Wims, we have started a wonderful "pay it forward" tradition for this event. We look to our 4th grade (K-3 is welcome too!) families to volunteer for this event, with the hope that next year's 4th grade families will do the same for your 5th grader. Once a Wildcat, Always a Wildcat!
Monday, June 16th - 5th GRADE PICNIC (10:00am - 12:30pm)
This is a special event using the proceeds raised during Bingo Night! Our 5th graders and their families are invited to enjoy an afternoon on the blacktop with grilled hot dogs & refreshments for the students, a water balloon toss, and a parents v. students kick-ball game! This event takes place during the school day and is for 5th grade students only.
Past Events:
August
Friday, August 22 - OPEN HOUSE
The PTA is proud to be part of the WWES Open House. Stop by to meet the PTA Board and join the PTA! Spirit wear will be on sale as well, and students can turn in their completed Open House activity in exchange for a free Kona Ice! Family members are welcome to purchase additional Kona Ice.
October
FALL MOVIE NIGHT
Bring your blankets, camping chairs, and pillows and join us for a movie under the stars. "Doors" open at 6pm for you to secure your spot, with concessions up for grabs and spirit wear for sale. The movie will begin at dark, approximately 7pm. Spirit wear sales will close at dark, so come early if you'd like to shop. The concession stand will remain open throughout and will close near the end of the movie, serving up pizza, hot dogs, chips, candy, and more! Cash and credit cards accepted. All proceeds go towards the cost of this event as well as to support other PTA events.
Friday, October 3 - WILDCAT FUN RUN
Fun Run is our largest fundraiser of the year! This event funds the PTA budget for the school year so we can offer events such as Multicultural Night, STEAM Expo, Spelling Bee, Bingo Night & more free of charge.
** In the next couple of years, the PTA will need a new Chair(s) for the Fun Run, which is crucial to the PTA's funding. Fun Run is responsible for at least 50% of the PTA's income, providing the ability to host many of the events you see on this page. No experience is necessary, but the best transition would be for the new Chair(s) to volunteer alongside the current Chair for 1-2 years. If you are interested in keeping the tradition of Fun Run alive, please contact the PTA. The Fun Run would benefit most from a Chair(s) who has several years remaining at Wilson Wims.
November
GRANDPARENTS' DAY
Grandparents are invited to join their Wildcat(s) for a pancake & sausage breakfast, photo opportunity, exclusive shopping hours at the Book Fair, and a brief Meet & Greet in the classroom! This is a free event sponsored by the PTA through funds raised through the Fun Run. For more information on Grandparents Day or to join our team, please reach out to pta@wwespta.org
IT'S PIE TIME!
Donate a pie or several pies for this Wims tradition! Our goal is to send each & every Wims staff member home with a delicious pie for their Thanksgiving Holiday. Pies can be store-bought or made with love and can be any variety.
December
BOOK FAIR
Our students love Book Fair and it's a PTA favorite as well. Help is needed in setup and in the Book Fair throughout the duration of this event. Day & evening shifts are available. Volunteers are critical to the success of Book Fair. Please reach out to Danni Ibarra to hear more and find out how you can become more involved in this important event!
YOU'RE ONE SMART COOKIE
Doing some holiday baking? We love our Wims staff and would love to BAKE their season bright by sharing some delicious holiday treats! Sign up to donate a dozen (or dozens) cookies! Cookies can be store-bought or made with love and can be of any variety.
January
MULTICULTURAL NIGHT
Multicultural Night is a wonderful event celebrating our diverse Wildcat Community through an evening of cultural enlightenment, diverse foods, art, artifacts, and a fabulous fashion show! We invite families to share their cultures by signing up to host a table containing items and artifacts, tasty food, and delicacies. Students are invited to participate in a dazzling fashion show featuring their traditional clothing! If you have any questions about Multicultural Night or would like to support the event through a larger role, please reach out to Natalia Winffel.
February
SPELLING BEE
Spelling Bee takes place during the school day for interested students in grades 3-5. The 5th grade winner will move onto the Regional Bee, which will take place in March (tentative). If you have any questions about the Spelling Bee or would like to support the event through a larger role, please reach out to Ashley Lewis.
March
S.T.E.A.M. EXPO
65% of today's students will find themselves working in careers that do not exist yet. We believe in providing students with opportunities through Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Music. At the Expo, students can enjoy their fellow Wildcats' amazing demonstrations, enjoy interactive Lego robotics, watch musical and dance performances, and complete an art project with Mrs. Daniell. If you have any questions or are interested in serving on the S.T.E.A.M. Committee, please contact Anusha Moodliar.
April
BINGO NIGHT
Bingo Night promises fun for the whole family and supports the 5th grade class picnic at the end of the school year. Bingo Night is a sell-out event and pre-registration (free) is required. Concession and prize donations are needed from our community so that all funds raised at the event benefit the 5th graders. If you have any questions or are interested in supporting the event through a larger role, please contact the PTA.
BOGO BOOK FAIR
Join us for our final book fair of the school year - and it's "buy one, get one free!" Volunteers are needed to give our students the best book fair. All volunteers during school hours must have completed the online Recognizing Child Abuse and Neglect Training via ParentVUE. Any volunteer spot not filled may result in the cancellation of those hours. If you have any questions about the book fair or want to support the event in a larger capacity, please contact Danni at president@wwespta.org.
May
STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK
For one week straight, the PTA engages in honoring our hardworking teachers and staff with themed lunches, treats, and activities. Join our outstanding Teacher Appreciation Committee with your own fresh ideas and help us make the next Appreciation Week the best ever! Please contact us at pta@wwespta.org if you'd like to help with Appreciation.
WIMS GOT TALENT VARIETY SHOW
Come one, come all, to the greatest show on earth! The variety show features student acts from singing and dancing to karate, yoga & more and takes place at Hallie Wells Middle School.
** Our talented Variety Show Chairs are heading to middle school next year and the PTA will need a new Chair(s) for this beloved event. No experience is necessary, but the best transition would be for the new Chair(s) to volunteers alongside the current Chairs this spring. If you are interested in helping to save the Variety Show, please reach out to the PTA. The Variety Show would benefit most from a Chair(s) with several years remaining at Wilson Wims.
